For our Spring Office outing, on April 19th, we visited the beautiful Morningside Heights; this included a vertical tour of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and a walking tour of Columbia University's main campus.

Did you know: Cathedral of St. John the Divine was originally designed in Romanesque Revival style, but plans were changed midway through construction to a Gothic Style. This architectural transition resulted in two distinct halves of the building. Such a striking testament to its complex and evolving history!

Each stained glass window in the cathedral depicted distinct scenes and symbols. The upper windows illustrated "divine" pursuits–such as prayer, music, and education–elevated both literally and spiritually. In contrast, the lower windows portrayed more earthly activities, including sports and communal life, grounding the sacred space in the rhythms of everyday experience.
