After an unfortunate detour that stirred controversy and publicity around a simple (but classy) 3D-printed retaining wall, the saying “all’s well that ends well” would be aptly used here.

The project, 32 Jane St in Manchester, New Hampshire, is now one for the books. The Certificate of Occupancy has been issued, and Kushner Studios can proudly claim to be the architects of the first-ever 3D-printed concrete home in New England.

This honor is shared with the notable 3D printers Madco3D, our sister company, with Adam Kushner serving as the principal and “top dog” of both.

Both Adam and Dan Bernard, a founding member of Madco3D, hope to set an enduring precedent for future American residential construction. In an earlier interview with WMUR9 News, Bernard alludes to 3D printed architecture as an opportunity to expedite and automate the construction process, reduce costs, and make a dent in the housing crisis in so doing. Also, the relative environmental sustainability doesn’t hurt either.

The actual house at the center of all these lofty ambitions is a modest yet cozy, modern dwelling, featuring large rooms and making use of playful rounded corners. It leans on proven 21st century design sensibilities, with just enough futuristic flair to match its cutting-edge construction.

Now, to crank up the PR machine: who else wants a 3D-printed home?
