Kushner Studios has been hard at work pushing the envelope of one of the most game-changing new technologies to hit the field of architecture and construction in recent years. As the sole recipient of a permit to fabricate 3D-printed residential buildings in the United States, Principal Adam Kushner is wasting no time making good on the promise of faster, cheaper, more technologically sophisticated and uncompromised home-building that this technology affords.
765 North Mountain Road, a planned poolhouse in Gardiner, New Jersey, will be the first 3D-printed residence in the country. Many years in the making, the house is now being built according to a radically overhauled design, incorporating playful and clever use of simple geometric forms to give the structure the elegance and musicality befitting of its cutting-edge construction.

One of the favorite stories of our Principal, Adam Kushner, is his unorthodox overcoming of a bureaucratic hiccup to 3D printed construction: the initial paperwork for the site had no box for “3D printed construction,” so he drew one himself and checked it off.

The house has passed inspections and construction has begun in earnest, with one of the latest steps being the pouring of the foundational walls. This is an important progress milestone, as all 3D printed concrete will rest atop these foundations. From here, there’s (literally) nowhere to go but up.

More recently, Adam has gotten more hands-on with the project, learning how to place PVC pipes and becoming an amateur plumber to help construction along. “Look for thrills and spills to follow,” as he puts it…
